Lift your voice, clap your hands, and dance with us, as we welcome Shabbat together.  Welcome Shabbat with us on Friday, January 5th and let your spirit soar as two gifted chazzans lead us in this inspirational service.  Yaakov Gothard will lead us in welcoming Shabbat using Rabbi Sholmo Carlebach's melodies, followed Toby Wexler's beautiful rendition of Maariv.

 

All are invited, regardless of denomination or religious upbringing, and new-comers are absolutely welcome.

Saturday, January 6th    Morning Services   9:00 am 

The Torah portion, Parashat Vayechii, will be read by Nosson Wiggins.  The Rabbi’s sermon will be on “The Aleynu Prayer: Why we are obligated to praise G-d.”  Davening will be followed by a lively Kiddush.  Rabbi Lindenblatt will then lead a class discussing Parshat Vayechi.

If you would like to lead part of the Shabbat service, read part or the entire Torah portion, read the Haftorah portion, or give a d'var Torah on Shabbat, please contact Rabbi Lindenblatt at [email protected].  This is a wonderful way to participate in your shul and/or celebrate an event, such as the anniversary of your Bar Mitzvah.  In addition, if you would like to stay in the neighborhood for Shabbat please contact the Lindenbatt’s at (404) 874-3754.

Monday, January 8th - Board meeting begins at 7 pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend the monthly Board meeting to learn more about Anshi's events and programs and to contribute ideas.

 

Sunday, January 14th - Anshi's Semi-annual Clean-up Day!  Join us at 10 am for a few hours of organizing and cleaning the shul.  Help make our shul sparkle!

 

Friday, January 19th - Shabbat in the Highlands.  Services begin at 5:35 pm, and are followed by a delicious dinner at Barbara Rosenberg's home (walking distance from Congregation Anshi S'fard).  Dinner is a kosher, catered, vegetarian/dairy meal.  The cost for dinner is $18 for members and $20 for non-members.  Home hospitality for all of Shabbat is available upon request.  Please RSVP by Tuesday, January 16th by (1) sending an email to Rivka Monheit ([email protected]) and (2) mailing your check made payable to “Congregation Anshi S’fard” to Congregation Anshi S’fard, P.O. Box 8371, Atlanta, Georgia 31106.    Please note in the memo of your check that the check is for the “January Shabbat Dinner”.  

 

Sunday, January 21st CPR/First Aid Class Anshi will host a free CPR training class led by Benjamin Karp of Georgia CPR LLC.  Learn the basics about CPR and first aid to help you save the life of your friend, family member, or coworker.
